I'm happy to report the several of the officers volunteered to stay on the board & we have 3 new board members. Please hold on to your receipts for reimbursement. Any reimbursement without a receipt will not be honored. All expenses must be approved by the board to qualify for reimbursement. Tip of the year... You may not handle your gun at any time during the match unless you are under the supervision of an SO or in a Safe Area. If you don't know where the safe area is, ask. Your vehicle is not a safe area.       Welcome to West Houston Shooters Club!  We are a Texas Non-Profit club that hosts regular International Defensive Pistol Association or IDPA matches & 3-Gun matches serving the west Houston area. West Houston Shooters Club matches provide excellent practice for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holders and for others who value safe handling of firearms. IDPA shooting emphasizes the following practical applications of safe and efficient firearm use for self-defense: drawing from concealment shooting while moving shooting from behind cover reloading engagement of multiple targets safe gun handling * MOST IMPORTANT * We meet at The Impactzone shooting range north of Brookshire, TX (click on link for a map) for the following scheduled practice matches: Weekly Wednesday Match   --  IDPA match; sign-up from 5:30 - 5:45 PM; match begins 6:00 sharp!  Match usually ends at 8 or a little after.  New shooters Shooting your 1st match... please try to arrive at the range no later than 5:30 & promptly identify you self as a "New Shooter" so we can run you through our new shooter safety briefing in a timely manner. First Saturday Monthly Match  --  IDPA match; sign-up 8:30 AM; match begins at 9:00.  Match usually ends between 1 & 2. Second Saturday Monthly Match -- 3-Gun match (carbine, pistol, shotgun); sign-up 8:30 AM; match begins at 9:00.  Match usually ends between 1 & 2. Fun Match -- day and event topic varies each month and may be a, IDPA BUG (Back Up Gun) match,  Shotgun, Rifle match, etc. Each match is an opportunity to get some coaching from more experienced shooters. New shooters and those new to IDPA are always welcome and encouraged to attend matches. Match Fees & Memberships West Houston Shooters Club yearly membership.  Benefits of the club membership include: a significant reduction in match fees, voting privileges, and invitations to special shooting classes.  If you are interested in becoming a West Houston Shooters Club member please fill out this "editable" PDF version of the Membership Form (all fields of the form are editable expect the signature line) then print it out & bring it with you to the match. However, you do not have to be a West Houston Shooters Club member to shoot with us. All shooters pay a $15 yearly insurance fee. Membership = $50 ($15 insurance fee + $35 for the club) Members match fees are $5 less.  IDPA $15 for West Houston Shooters Club members and $20.00 for non-members. 3-Gun $20 for West Houston Shooters Club members and $25.00 for non-members.  ------Chamber Flags, 1 for $2 or 2 for $3------ Youth Shooters (under 18 & accompanied by a legal guardian) - only pay $10 range fee on Wednesdays & $12 range fee on Saturdays. Safety Officers - only pay $10 range fee for Wednesdays & $12 range fee for Saturdays. Match Directors - pay nothing. According to the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) rule book “Contestants may only shoot one IDPA match as a non-IDPA member.
